Bane’s World and Michael Seyer have been selling out shows left and right, burning up the local scene, and making their first time fest debuts. Both bands are also going on tour with Inner Wave later this month until August. Check below for full details of their “Dog Days” summer tour.

The tour comes on the heels of multiple sold out shows, so it’s welcome to see the bands giving fans more opportunities to catch them in the next few months.

Back to the Viva show though.

Both Bane’s World and Michael Seyer are a core component of not only Viva shows, but of a new scene emerging of chill bedroom jazzy/synth/rap adjacent bands like Cuco, Clairo, and Yellow Days taking place in Los Angeles. Further groupings could include bands like Rex Orange County, Steve Lacy, Jasper Bones, Katzu Oso, Inner Wave, and most importantly, Tyler, the Creator. These collaborative groups often play festivals or shows together, are highly influenced by each other, and are creating new scenes, and booking trends far and wide.

Rene Contreras of Viva is crucial to this. In addition to booking Viva events, Rene is also responsible for the Sonora stage at Coachella, and often gives the bands mentioned above, prominent spots at important Goldenvoice events. Artists and influencers like Tyler, The Creator, in turn, finds new bands he loves and we get an incredibly cool Camp Flog Gnaw lineup each year, or events like Tropicalia.

Glasshouse shows are thus incredibly fun to witness, as they represent crucial music trends and booking hints for all the hottest fests for years to come.
