The wait for goth rock innovator Chelsea Wolfe’s upcoming fifth studio album “Hiss Spun” hasn’t been very long at all. In fact, her last one, “Abyss,” came out just two years ago last week. Yet, it sure feels like an eternity. Perhaps its the times we live in, but the cathartic craving of a new, soul-shredding album and subsequent jaw-dropping, face-melting tour feels more urgent than ever. Let it be known that this apparent time dilation stands as a testament to the power of Wolfe’s music.

Fortunately, Wolfe released an official video to lead single “16 Psyche” today to tide us over. Directed by Zev Deans, “16 Psyche” obliterates the senses with fogged-out footage of the band rocking out interspersed between flashes of Wolfe wrapped with gauze by masked figures and writhing on a gurney while in a latex catsuit. Watch below as”16 Psyche’s” imagery recalls the intensity of the hard rocking videos of the ’90s.

As if the video couldn’t rock any harder, that’s Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar. “Hiss Spun” drops Sept. 22 via Sargent House.
