4AD signee Merchandise and Captured Track’s recent addition, B Boys are on a month-long North American tour. The Floridians and New Yorkers stopped in Portland, Ore. on a Saturday night at Mississippi Studios. B Boys took the stage first with their uncompromising yet catchy punk rock. With no-frills setup of guitar, bass, and a drum kit, the Brooklyn-based trio progressively elicited responses from the typically reserved Stumptown concertgoers. Their debut LP “Dada” will be released on June 16.

Recently returning from a European tour, Merchandise were promoting their latest effort, “A Corpse Wired For Sound,” released in Sept. 2016. A more melodic and nuanced sound wafted through the intimate venue when the Tampa-originated band took over the spotlight. Led by crooning vocalist Carson Cox and acrobatic guitarist Dave Vassalotti, the foursome provided a gratifying second half to the show.
