When we saw Thee Oh Sees (now playing as OCS) were playing the Teragram with an amazing lineup, we knew something amazing was coming. Then, the band released a new single which you can hear below.
The new song comes from the upcoming Nov 17th album, Memory of a Cut Off Head via Dwyer’s Castle Face Records. The album is a departure from the heavier, harder sound that has defined Thee Oh Sees. Also notable is the presence of Brigid Dawson on vocals.
The benefit is for L.A. Kitchen, which focuses on food recovery, job training, volunteering and engagement with the Los Angeles community. The charity has been an annual favorite for Thee Oh Sees almost every December.
The release will be followed by very unique live shows with Ty Segall and Shannon Lay in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The two Los Angeles shows will feature John Dwyer, Brigid Dawson, Tim Hellman, Paul Quattrone, Tom Dolan and a string section consisting of Heather Lockie, Eric Clarke and Emily Elkin. The show is a mellow sit-down set compared to the usual heavy thrashing and anarchy of a normal Oh Sees event. A press release for the shows say that it will “likely the only times the material off Memory of a Cut Off Head will be performed live,” – which will be unprecedented and incredibly unique.
All this is to say that the upcoming album will be a much more mellow affair, and one that will be very hard to see again live. The upcoming dates will sell out VERY fast, so make sure to get your tickets ASAP. You can get tickets to the Teragram shows starting Friday at 10am HERE for Dec 15th, and HERE for Dec 16th. You can get tickets to their San Francisco show here Friday at noon.
