Shaky Knees is coming to rock your weekend, and we’re highlighting all the best acts to see for day 1. Perhaps the best pure “rock” festival in a year where the largest fests in the world are lighter on heavier guitar acts, Shaky Knees knocks it out of the park from the start. Check below for our must see acts.

Early Friday starts strong with some of our favorite bands around, and L.A. Witch is at the top of that list. Badass guitar rockers will strum out amazing tunes to get your weekend started strong. Check our interview with the band here.
Courtney Barnett by James Sakert
When thinking about the top ten albums of the year we’re waiting and excited to hear, Courtney Barnett scores the highest. We haven’t heard from her in awhile, so festival appearances are incredibly appreciated. Expect to hear a new song or three from one of the most poignant guitarists in the business.
Franz will get the party started hard as the sun starts to set Friday night. Another badass rock band with tons of energy and nostalgia to boot. Get pumped.
David Byrne by Frank Mojica
A living legend with hit after hit. Even if you only know David from his Talking Heads material, the set is incredibly fun, and the suit clad backup singers and dancers put on such a good spectacle, your head will be spinning. The only downside is that The Brian Jonestown Massacre is at the same time, so if you have to, try to time it so you get all the classic Talking Heads songs around the middle of the set, then mob over to BJM.
Fleet Foxes by Frank Mojica
It’s almost impossible seeing Fleet Foxes outside of festival performances this year, as their huge demand commands sold out shows everywhere they play. Make sure not to miss this set because it’ll be hard seeing them again unless you’ve got a quick ticket finger or attend multiple festivals this year.
Really, a no brainer. He closes out Friday night, so make sure to be there.
Tickets are still available so grab some now here before they’re gone!
