Ty Segall is kicking off 2018 strong. While promoting his new album Freedom’s Goblin, the prolific rocker plays along with conspiracy theories on The Opposition, and delivers a beautiful rendition of “My Lady’s On Fire”. You can watch the performance here.
In addition to performing on the show, Ty also wrote the theme song for The Opposition and joked along with the gag that he was required to earn his keep. First, he was made to try to connect Hillary Clinton to recent snowstorms, then he had to test Jordan Klepper’s food for poison. After his performance, Klepper asked if the new album was about Jeff Sessions, and teased that if you played the album backwards, it would have anti-marijuana messages. You can watch the full episode here.
Ty Segall is the first musical guest on The Opposition and hopefully represents a new level of interaction for the show with other artists. One can only guess what bands will get up to with Klepper if they write this much plot and dialogue for guests, who usually just promote the album, play it, and have minimal screen time or lines on other shows. One thing is for sure; we’re certainly hooked on The Opposition and hope they keep up the great bands and humorous play along gags in future episodes.
Freedom’s Goblin comes out January 26th but you can listen to some of the album and pre-order it now here.
Also, don’t miss Ty on his upcoming tour across the world!
